General Info
October 13, 2008

Hey Guys,

Hope you all enjoyed the first social, just a quick reminder about all things Rocsoc coming up this week.

Firstly, our regular Bobbin social will take place on Monday 8pm-1am with resident DJ's Bruce and Zoe. Also this week a special set from DJ Kieron to round off the night. Any music you want playing just bring down a CD and we'll get it played for you.

Thursday, 16th October is the first Rocsoc gig of the year featuring Exploits of the Dead, Lake of Fire and headliners Eliminator. This is free with Rocsoc keyrings and all the bands are amazing, so come down and check it out. It's taking place at the Yorkshire House at 8pm, but if anyone's not too sure of the location the exec will be knocking around the Bobbin from 7pm and we'll head off en mass at about 7:30.

On a more boring note there's some legal stuff on the website that we have to direct you to, www.rocsoc.org and you'll find it from the main page under the info and official links. Please give it a glance if you have a sec.

Hopefully see you Monday

Side note from Sam. Many apologies if you are waiting for your forum account to be activated. Having a little trouble with activating accounts at the moment and it's taking longer than expected. If, as I'm sure you are, desperate to start posting, get a post in the guest area telling me what name you signed up with and I can do it instantly. Sorry about that.

Your Exec

Welcome Freshers!
October 1, 2008

A warm welcome to all of you who have just got to Lancaster, just a few things to say.

We will be at freshers fair this Friday, look out for the banner and come say hi.

The first social this Monday will be a non-themed fancy dress bar-crawl, starting off in Furness bar on campus followed by a bus ride into town and then ending up at The Bobbin, followed by the Toast nightclub. Hope to see you all there!

Any questions, feel free to contact one of the exec via our forums, link at the top of this page.

Awesome live bands at the Carleton!!!
June 17, 2008

Hey kids,

Rocsoc has a treat for you this week!

this Friday 20th June we have three great live bands playing for you at the Carleton:

Old school heavy metal band 'Eliminator'
Extreme progressive metallers 'Adust'
and the melodic 'Lake of Fire'

If none of these take your fancy then we will also have our regular DJ's playing for you in the smaller room all night

Free buses running to the Carelton will be leaving from Dalton Square at 8:45pm, and from the Bobbin at 9:30pm & 10pm
Make sure that you get to the Bobbin nice and early to get a seat!

All of this for a mere £3 entry fee, and to make it even sweeter you will receive a free shot at the Carelton when you show your Rocsoc keyring!!

Its going to be a great night and the last major event of term so make sure you rock out in style!

see you all soon

Nottingham Rock City! - 31st May
May 14, 2008

That's right folks, on the 31st May rocsoc will be heading to Nottingham for the night, to possibly the best Rock/Metal/Alternative club in the country.

A mere £10 will get you a coach ride there and back, and be sure to bring along your Rocsoc keyring to ensure £1 entry to the club. Non-member/guests are welcome providing they have a valid purple card, and will be able to get the coach for the slightly increased price of £12, so tell all your mates and we will have a blast.

Tickets are available for the next 2 weeks at our weekly Monday night social at The Bobbin. Pop down anytime between 8pm and 1am to grab yours. If you can't make it to the Monday night, don't hesitate to contact any of the exec to arrange your tickets.

Plans for the coach are:-

-> Leaving Dalton Square in town at 6:00pm
-> Leaving University Underpass at 6:30pm
Ensure you arrive slightly early, as we will need to tick everyone off our list, and plan to leave on time.

Places are limited, so be sure to get in quick! It will be a great break from the revision.

Regards, your Exec Smile

Rocsoc.org downtime, ironically on the 1st April
April 1, 2008

Apologies for the site and forums being unavailable all day. Unfortunately this matter was out of my control, due to the hosting companies tool which I used to make a backup of the site failing.

Therefore, as you have probably all noticed. the site has reverted to an older version. Sorry to those of you who have lost threads, and you will probably have to build up your precious post counts again unless I can think of a way to restore it to a later version.

I'll be trying to sort everything out tonight. Ex-exec members seem to have regained moderator powers, and at the moment I imagine current-exec may have lost moderator powers.

Bear with me, I'll be up until everything is as close as I can get it to how it was. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

April fools! kinda :/
